KATIA PEREZ MENDEZ
Katia is a Canadian artist, an interior decorator and a Colombian architect. Since 2009, she has been involved as an art educator in Canada. In 2014, she received a Civic Recognition Award from the Town of Grimsby for her volunteering art work with the community. Also, she participated in multiple Grimsby Heritage Art Competitions. In 2017, one of her artwork is a part of the permanent art exhibition at Grimsby City Hall “Canada 150 Square Root Projects”. Between 2010-2015, She taught art at the City of Hamilton and Grimsby Public Art Gallery. In 2014,she was invited as a speaker to share her experiences as an immigrant artist woman in Beamsville for International Women Day. As well she was nominate in 2015 at St Catharines Arts Awards, for her art work with local women. Like wise, in 2017 and 2020 was nominated for "Art in Education" she engaged her students to participate at the Canada 150 Educational Legacy Project. At the same year, she was awarded from Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural for “Amazing Inner- Strength/ Never Gives Up. In 2024, She was awarded for the City of St Catharines Annual Juried Exhibition Phases.
